FAQs

Will this be timed?

This 5K Race will be Chip Timed. Race results will be available here on this website via Active.com and Synergy Race Timing.

Do I have to wear a costume?

Of course we’ll still let you run, walk and party sans costume, but you should be prepared to hear some heckling. This is San Francisco, after all. We take our costumes seriously.

When will I get my bib, raffle ticket, and goody bag?

We highly recommend collecting your race packet which will include your bib and timing device prior to race day, we’ll have several opportunities to do this at a few different locations, more details as we confirm them.

If that’s not possible then come earlier to avoid potential lines on race day to check in and collect your race packet ahead of the race. Check in will open from 7am on race day and the SF Mad Dash begins at 9:30am sharp.

Goody bag will given to runners as you as you cross the line.

What should I bring for check-in?

Please bring your photo ID. If you have not pre-registered for the SF Mad Dash, you’ll also need to bring cash or a credit card to pay your entry fee.

Will water be provided?

Absolutely. There will be water available at the start/finish line and also there will be water stations along the SF Mad Dash 5k route.

Will there be first aid on site?

Yes, we will have trained medical practitioners and SFPD on site just in case.

Is there a time limit for the 5K?

Yes. All participants must finish the 5k course by 11am (SF Parks & Rec rules). That just means more time to party!

Can I walk the race course?

Totally. There will be plenty of time for you to finish the course at any pace you wish. Just make sure to get to the starting line on time.

Can children participate?

Certainly! Kids are more than welcome. In fact, all children 11 and under will receive their very own numbered bib.

Are jogging strollers permitted?

Yes, they are and the start will be staggered to allow people to find the right spot for their running level. Also the course is a good surface and grade for a jogging stroller.

Can I bring my dog with me?

We all love our four-legged friends but for runner safety, Fido unfortunately will not be allowed to join the race.

Can I bike the course?

For the safety of all of our runners & walkers, bikes are prohibited.

Will I need anything for the after-party?

If you plan on partying, don’t forget your ID and cash for tasty food, drinks and vendors.

Where can I stay overnight?

There are lots of accommodation possibilities near to Golden Gate Park Polo Fields . Check out trip advisor for more information and ideas on where to stay.

Is this a kids’ event?

This might be a race benefiting a preschool but the event is for people of all ages. There will be kids’ activities at the after-party but also entertainment for the adults as well.
